After pandemic-induced hiatus, MACSIM is back, and returning to Penn, where it all started with the First MACSIM in 2010! We’re looking forward to an exciting day of talks and posters by graduate students and an invited talk by Kristen Syrett (Rutgers). Happening on Saturday, April 15th 2023, roughly 9:30-5:30 for the main program (talks starting at 10). More details coming soon!
Plans are starting to become concrete for MACSIM 6, which will be hosted on October 1st at CUNY.
First major update: Philippe Schlenker will be the invited speaker!
Also, a reminder that MACSIM now has a Facebook group, which you should join to see updates and connect with other MACSIMizers!
MACSIM now has a Facebook group, for staying connected, sharing photos and announcing relevant events in the area.
MACSIM 5 was held at the University of Delaware on Saturday, October 3
Find out more about MACSIM 5Â here.
MACSIM 4 was held at Rutgers on Friday, October 17 (roundtable) and Saturday, October 18 (MACSIM proper).
We’re grateful to everyone who attended for making this such a successful event!

Handouts and posters are posted on the program website as the presenters send them in, so keep checking if you want to follow up on any of the materials from the presentations!
A few important details for attending MACSIM this weekend:
The final program is now up, and most abstracts are available (just click on the individual presentation titles). We’ll provide a printed booklet with all abstracts at the workshop, too, so that you get an idea of what’s going on during the poster sessions.
If you’re planning on attending and haven’t registered yet, please do so right away!
Also, remember that if you want a MACSIM T-shirt, you need to email Alexander Williams by April 1 (see T-Shirt for details).
Thanks to those of you who have already submitted the title of their presentation – These are now available on the program page. Further additions will be added as they come in.
If you are presenting and haven’t submitted a title yet, please do so ASAP. The easiest way of doing this is by registering on the registration page.
Generally, everyone planning to attend is asked to register there ASAP, to facilitate the planning logistics.
